Earlier this year, Goodmans Interior Structures announces UMOM New Day Centers, a nonprofit that provides homeless families with shelter, housing and support services, as the 2013 winner of the Goodmans’ Eye for the Good Guys Board Governance Award.

As the award winner from Maricopa County, UMOM received a $20,000 makeover for its conference room.

Renovation began in May, and the new space was unveiled on Oct. 8, with new furniture, paint, signage, flooring and more. UMOM will have much more flexibility with new furniture to create five different layouts that maximize the use of its space and help the nonprofit serve its clients even better.

“UMOM’s board of directors provides significant leadership to ensure, for years to come, that the organization will continue to fulfill its mission of helping homeless families reach their greatest potential,” said Adam Goodman, CEO of the family-owned Goodmans Interior Structures.

More than 11,320 people voted online for their favorite “Good GuyS” during the contest’s public voting period, March 11 to 22. Goodmans selected the winners based on a tallied score from a questionnaire, the judges’ review of the answers, and public voting.

“UMOM is thrilled to have a new conference room to allow our dedicated staff and board of directors to continue to create solutions to help homeless families,” said Darlene Newsom, CEO of UMOM New Day Centers.
