The Wal-Mart Foundation recently donated $50,000 to Valley of the Sun YMCA in support of its i-Learn Program. The supervised, online curriculum provides education to students who are struggling in traditional classroom settings.

The YMCA i-Learn Program holds students accountable for making time for their education by offering a flexible, e-Learning system that meets state attendance requirements. In 2012, 635 Arizona youth benefited from the education alternative. Offered onsite at most Valley of the Sun YMCA locations, the program seeks to intervene with youth who are struggling in their learning environment and are at risk of dropping out of school.

The donation helped to fund technology and peer support for students. For more information about the YMCA, call 602-404-9622 or go to www.valleyymca.org.
