Families that are caring for aging loved ones in their homes can take advantage of day respite centers in order to get holiday shopping and other critical errands done.

Suntree Adult Day Health (for Seniors), located at 4120 N. 20th St., is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Suntree is an adult day center for seniors age 55 and older that provides caregiving, day respite, resources, and education to family caregivers. The center specializes in caring for those with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Suntree is license by the Department of Health Services and is contracted with Area Agency on Aging and Arizona Alzheimer’s Association.

The Foundation for Senior Living operates the Monsignor Edward J. Ryle Life Center, which has the capacity to serve as many as 135 seniors and adults with disabilities. It is located at 3620 N. 4th Ave.

Programs and services are designed to promote greater physical and emotional well-being, and are tailored to the needs of each client. Services include therapeutic recreation, social services, and medical monitoring to seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, stroke survivors, or individuals who simply cannot stay alone at home during the day.

Amenities include a Health Club for supervised exercise and therapy; a café for cooking classes, nutrition training, and socializing; a shaded outdoor patio; and program areas outfitted with large flatscreen TVs for clients to enjoy Wii competitions.
