A Valley chapter of the nonprofit Binky Patrol is collecting homemade quilts, knitted or crocheted blankets and fleece blankets through Dec. 12 at Century Library, 1750 E. Highland Ave.

The donated items will be distributed via local family service agencies to children and teens in need of comfort and a caring touch. The suggested minimum blanket size is 32 inches by 40 inches. Crafters can use their own design or ask at the library desk for instructions to make a simple, no-sew fleece blanket that even children can do.
