The 2013 APS Electric Light Parade takes to central Phoenix streets 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. This spectacular display of lighted floats, marching bands, and performance groups attracts an abundance of participants and spectators. This year’s theme is “Wild West Holiday Roundup.”

The parade route is along Central Avenue from Montebello to Camelback Road, then east on Camelback to 7th Street, and finally 7th Street south to Steele Indian School Park. Spectators are welcome to bring chairs, and blankets or warm clothing is recommended as temperatures are expected to drop significantly after sunset.

Parade lovers also can come out during parade judging on Friday, Dec. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the event staging area at North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central Ave., to see all motorized entries lit up for official review. Students from Arizona State University’s College of Public Programs will be on hand that night with free kids activities, and children also can visit with Santa.

Visitors to the judging can enter the staging area at the church parking lot entrance on Montebello Road off of Central Avenue.
