Blue Mass honors police, fire, EMTs

The Catholic Diocese of Phoenix presents its Blue Mass, an Annual Mass of Thanksgiving, 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Ave.

The mass is an opportunity for the community to give thanks and prayers to members of law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical crews. The Blue Mass will honor the work of these dedicated men and women as well as those who have died in the line of duty. The names of those who sacrificed their lives this past year will be read, and a candle will be lit to represent each person.

The mass will be presided over by the Most Reverend Thomas J. Olmsted, Bishop of Phoenix, and the Most Reverend Eduardo A. Nevares, Auxiliary Bishop of Phoenix. The honor guards and speakers will unite together in faith and service.
