Arizona StandDown 2014, an event to recognize and assist homeless and at-risk U.S. veterans, will take place 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 14-15 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1826 W. McDowell Road.
Veterans will be connected with programs and services to assist them with housing, V.A. benefits, legal aid, Social Security, driver’s licenses/state IDs, V.A. mental heath services, and more.
If you have outstanding court issues, court registration will take place on Friday, with court resolutions taking place on Saturday and also on Sunday.
On-site services for Friday and Saturday include meals, clothing, haircuts, showers, and pet care; all animals welcome. There also will be a job fair for veterans beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. A StandDown ceremony will take place prior to that at 9 a.m.
Free transportation will be available beginning at 8 a.m. from the VA Medical Center at 650 E. Indian School Road and the St. Vincent de Paul dining hall at 9227 N. 10th Ave. There is no free parking at the coliseum; those with vehicles are encouraged to park at the VA Medical Center and take the free shuttle.
