PetSmart, in cooperation with PHX Renews, has launched a new “Pop-Up Park,” also known as P.U.P., located at the northeast corner of Indian School Road and Central Avenue. The park opened on Dec. 14.

PetSmart invested $50,000 that funded a unique portable dog park that arrived at its venue with all of the dog park components inside such as ramps, OOPs stations, movable bench seating and more. The park is approximately 5,000 square feet and the surface material is made of decomposed granite.

“The PetSmart P.U.P. is a welcome addition to PHX Renews,” said Tom Waldeck, executive director of Keep Phoenix Beautiful. “This is a world-class example of a business stepping up and investing in the health and future of its community. The P.U.P. is a groundbreaking model of vacant land transformation.”

The park is open from sunrise to sunset. It will remain at this location until Nov. 15, 2015.

PetSmart provided this donation through its PetSmart Gives Back initiative. This initiative focuses on giving back to local communities throughout the nation in support of organizations that enrich people’s lives through the power of pets and foster diversity and inclusion.
