Second Home Pet Resort recently celebrated five-plus years of providing boarding and day-care services for cats and dogs.

“People who love their pets often struggle with the decision to go away on vacation; they can feel guilty about leaving their pet behind,” said Roger Naumann, owner and CEO of Second Home Pet Resort.

Naumann says the 17,000-square-foot Second Home Pet Resort is a home-away-from home for pets. The brainchild of Naumann, a 27-year Hyatt Hotels and Resorts veteran, and his wife, Cheryl Naumann, who served as the CEO of the Arizona Humane Society for five years, the facility features petite suites for little dogs, TLC suites for geriatric or sensitive dogs, kitty condos and three-level cat penthouses for those felines who are truly spoiled, and spacious pavilion and elite suites for dogs, some of which include adjoining outdoor patios.

There also are flat-panel TVs and, for a small extra charge, Webcams suites so you can watch your pooch from a computer anywhere in the world.

Since its beginnings the facility has expanded to include grooming services, and on Feb. 1 will launch a new dog obedience training program that includes behavior modification. The new dog obedience training program will include classes on-site as well as optional in-home training sessions.

The full-service salon and spa offers a spacious, inviting environment where pets can be bathed, clipped, brushed, well-cared for and pampered, either while staying as a resort guest or when just dropping in for the day for salon services.

Second Home also works closely with various Arizona animal rescue organizations by providing housing until these pets find foster homes, or ideally permanent homes with forever families.

Rates are competitive with other boarding facilities in the community, and significant discounts are offered for multiple-pet families. Mention this article and receive 15-percent off of a stay that is three nights or more, or 15-percent off of grooming services (excluding exit baths).
