According to a 2013 article in Forbes magazine, 8 out of 10 entrepreneurs who start businesses fail within the first 18 months. But thanks to hard work, dedication, and a strong family, 3A Automotive Service is celebrating its 40-year anniversary serving the Phoenix area.

3A Automotive Service, 1539 W. Hatcher Road, is a family owned and operated, full-service preventive maintenance and auto repair facility founded in 1975 by Jim and Earlene Alauria.
Jim has been hands-on and is proud 3A Automotive Service is what it is today. “I have always enjoyed the work. In all of these years, there hasn’t been a day where I have wished to have a different job. The art of fixing things has always brought me joy.”
He went on to point out that this has been a family affair since day one. “My dad was the one who helped me open up the garage originally and it is such an honor to have watched my son grow into the family business, as well. Jimmy has been working with me the last 15 years and is now the president of the business.
“Two generations of Alaurias—I couldn’t be more proud,” he said.
Jim’s expertise and old-school approach and practices have given this family business its heart and soul. “We all help out,” stressed Jim, who built the business from the ground up and who is still heavily involved today. “The family being so involved with the day-to-day is what gives us an edge over so many other businesses out there. We have been in the business a long time and have seen it all.”
The shop at continues to grow and evolve even after 40 years. The family recently acquired two adjacent lots, with future plans of expanding and remodeling. In addition, they plan on adding more offices and hiring more employees.
