Lifelong North Central Phoenix resident Tyler J. Carrell has begun serving his yearlong term as president of the State Bar of Arizona Young Lawyers Division (YLD). Carrell is also the current president of the Maricopa County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. No attorney has ever held these positions at the same time.

“We are very proud of Tyler’s leadership and willingness to serve as president in concurrent terms for both (organizations),” said Dean Short, managing partner of Gallagher & Kennedy, where Carrell works an associate practicing in the areas of real estate transactions, commercial litigation and general corporate law.

Carrell’s term as president of the State Bar YLD runs through June 2016. He previously served as president-elect and treasurer of the YLD. In addition, Carrell is a member of the State Bar of Arizona Board of Governors, which governs the Arizona Bar and all attorneys licensed in Arizona.

The State Bar YLD is a professional service organization specifically created for lawyers who are under 37 years of age, or have been in practice for five years or less. Approximately one-third of all Arizona attorneys are members of the YLD. Members of the YLD donate an exceptional amount of time to pro bono legal services, charity events and civic engagement throughout Arizona.

Carrell also is a member of the University of Arizona Alumni Association, the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations and the Brophy Alumni Association.
