In celebration of Hilton Worldwide’s annual Global Month of Service, throughout October, more than 115 volunteers from eight Phoenix-area Hilton Worldwide hotels volunteered more than 340 hours over four days at St. Mary’s Food Bank to help alleviate hunger in Phoenix.

Community service is a tradition embedded in the company for nearly 100 years. Phoenix-area hotels participating in this effort included Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort, Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort, Arizona Biltmore, and Embassy Suites by Hilton Phoenix Biltmore.

“Working with St. Mary’s Food Bank gives all of us an opportunity to make a positive impact in the communities where we work and live,” said Ron Simon, general manager of Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort.

Over a four-day period spanning Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, local team members helped sort, bag and box 35,800 pounds of food at St. Mary’s Food Bank, which will provide 35,800 meals for local families.

“We always look forward to the annual visit from Hilton Hotels during their Global Month of Service,” said Jerry Brown, director of public relations for St. Mary’s. “The holidays are right around the corner and along with the need for donations, the need for volunteers to build the 40,000 emergency food boxes we distribute each month is equally important.”
