Significant progress is being made on the Northwest light rail extension between Bethany Home Road and Dunlap Avenue. All of the track on the 3.2-mile project is installed and nearly half of the overhead wires have been strung. A community art plaza is also complete in the northeast corner of the new Dunlap Avenue Park-and-Ride.
Even though much of the work is complete, businesses are still competing against ongoing traffic issues because of the construction. So to encourage shoppers to brave the barricades and stop by, Valley Metro is holding a “Shop On and Win On 19th Ave.” Contest through Oct. 30.
There are two ways to win. You also can complete an entry form at one of the following 19th Avenue businesses: Bookmans, Dunkin’ Donuts, El Rancho Market, IHOP (at Northern Ave.), Rent-A-Center, and Taco Bell. Entrants will have a shot at a handful of $100 prize packages, and the Grand Prize—a 32-inch flat screen TV.
