Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without loved family members who have recently died; it may be a time that has always been difficult. The anguish of broken relationships, the insecurity of unemployment, the weariness of ill health, the pain of isolation-all these can make us feel very alone in the midst of the celebrating and spending.

For those reasons, Encanto Community Church, 2710 N. 7th Ave., offers a “Blue Christmas” service 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16. There will be prayers, scripture and music that acknowledge that God’s presence is for those who mourn. No matter where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome.

Also, for those wishing to celebrate Christmas in a more traditional fashion, a Christmas Eve service will be held 7:30 p.m. Dec. 24. Sing carols, read familiar scripture and enjoy some time together. Everyone is welcome. For more information, visit www.encantocommunitychurch.org.
