The American Kennel Club (AKC) offers a “Good Citizen Evaluation” for any breed or mixed breed, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, April 12 at the North Mountain Visitor Center, 12950 N. 7th St.

The purpose of the class is to prepare dogs to become goodwill ambassadors, and encourage owners to have their dogs behave better in public. Fee is $20 per dog for an AKC judge evaluation. One dog is evaluated each 30 minutes. Call 602-679-1955 to register, or for more information.

The center also hosts a Dog Hiking Class, Saturday mornings through June. The one-hour class begins at 7:30 a.m. and includes dog conditioning and paw care, trail etiquette, emergency first aid, preserve regulations, and more. Limited to eight dogs. Register at the front desk or call Leslie at 602-861-9256. No charge; however, a $20 contribution is suggested.
