Uptown Farmers Market, located in the east parking area of North Phoenix Baptist Church, is moving inside Building B in the Fellowship Center for the hot summer months and will put its Wednesday market on hold until Oct 7.

Uptown Farmers Market features 70-plus vendors that moved indoors in June, including nearly a dozen local growers, and will continue inside for July and August. There will be indoor dining, live music, visiting artists, indoor activities for kids and outdoor water slides. Other benefits of the indoor space include is keeping dairy items in an actual freezer/fridge all week long, and hosting the first-ever fresh fish (never frozen) vendor.

Enjoy an Uptown Independence Day Market on July 4, with “Red, White and Blue” Raffle Baskets, patriotic crafts and activities for kids, vendor specials, and hormone-free, all natural meats for your holiday grilling needs.

On July 11, Uptown Market celebrates Doggie Day with the WellPet TrueFood Waggin’ Wagon, which will be on site offering an owner-pet photo taking station, prizes, dog agility area, and more. Madison Animal Hospital will give out portable water bowls for the pooches. Drop off a photo of your four-legged friend at the market’s info booth for a chance to win a free lunch ticket for you and a doggie goodie bag for Fido.

The recently added Veggie Valet service also will continue inside, and local chefs will offer free demonstrations each week. Chef Rebecca Tillman from Rico’s American Grill visits the market beginning at 8 a.m. on July 11, and Chef Wade from Bistro on Wheels presents “A Meal from the Market” on July 25.

The market recently was named as one of America’s 50 best farmers’ markets by Cooking Light Magazine in its June 2015 issue. Hours are 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturdays. North Phoenix Baptist Church is located at 5757 N. Central Ave. Visit www.uptownmarketaz.com to sign up for the weekly e-mail. For more information, call Bo at 602-859-5648.
