The first-annual William J, Higbee Dream Hike is set for 8 a.m. Saturday, April 11, leaving off from the North Mountain Visitor Center, 12950 N. 7th St.

This hike is dedicated to the memory of Phoenix resident William J. Higbee, who passed away two years ago after a battle with pancreatic cancer. During that time, Higbee was fortunate enough to have many of his wishes granted, which he was told he would not live to see, such as the birth of his newest grandson, and seeing a New York Mets no-hitter game. The hike is being organized by Higbee’s son, Mike.

For recipients of grants from the Dream Foundation, these simple dreams are all but out of reach. The goal of the hike is to raise $5,000, which will grant wishes to five people facing life-ending disease.

Registration is $35 per person includes the hike, a T-shirt, and continental breakfast and coffee afterward. If you are unable to join the hike, consider making a monetary donation. For more information or to register, visit http://wjhigbeedreamhike.wix.com/wjhigbeedreamhike.
