Altered Tails, a nonprofit organization and the Valley’s largest spay/neuter clinic specializing in high-quality, low-cost services, is offering $20 spay and neuter surgeries in August for all pit bull owners who reside in Maricopa County as part of its “Primp Your Pit” promotion. The surgeries take place at the Barnhart Clinic, 950 W. Hatcher Road in Sunnyslope.

Pit bull parents who wish to take advantage of this offer must mention the “Primp Your Pit” special when they schedule their appointment. All surgeries come with a free nail trim. Visit www.AlteredTails.org or call 602-943-7729 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Spaying and neutering is one of the most effective ways to reduce the homeless pet population and is safe for puppies as young as 12 weeks of age, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association. Spaying a female dog before the first heat cycle can be beneficial, improving the health of the pet by reducing the risk of certain reproductive cancers and infections.
