First Congregational Church, 1407 N. 2nd St., hosts its 2015 Pet Blessing on Saturday, Oct. 24. Doors will be open from 9 a.m. until noon, with the blessing service set for 10 a.m.

Pastor James Pennington will officiate at the blessing ceremony, assisted by two other congregational ministers. People and pet refreshments will be served. Participation is free to all, regardless of church affiliation, and includes a Certificate of Blessing with a photo of the pets and pet parents.

Besides benedictions on all kinds of live and toy pets, this year the church will host a bake sale and used book concession during the event. Several animal rescue organizations and suppliers of goods and services for pets will staff tables in the church courtyard.
