Applications for the 2015 Phoenix Suns Charities’ “SunStudent” Scholarship Program are now available. The program will award 10 scholarships, each worth $5,000, for students to use for educational expenses at the post-secondary college or university of their choice, as long as it is located in the state of Arizona. Seniors currently enrolled in an Arizona high school are encouraged to apply by visiting SunsCharities.org now through March 6.

One additional student will be selected as the 2015 Kevin Johnson Scholar, receiving a $7,000 scholarship.
Scholarship candidates must have a minimum 3.5 GPA to apply and participate in community service with a charitable organization, church, civic group, student government or other related organization. In addition, applicants must be eligible for financial aid, based on the FASFA criteria.

As part of the application, each student must submit an essay of at least 350 words, describing how the scholarship will benefit his or her education and personal life goals. Essays will be judged based on the development plan students have created to achieve their goals, as well as their overall vision for the future.

Scholarship recipients will be notified in March, following the deadline. For more information, contact Maggie Cortez at 602-379-7767.
