Creations in Cuisine Catering has launched a line of local freshly made pasta and sauces under the brand name, Pasta Rea. The company recently purchased a top-of-the-line Italian pasta machine, the La Monferrina Pasta Maker, which extrudes fresh pasta dough at a rate of 30-60 pounds per hour and produces over 100 different shapes.

Pasta Rea made its debut on Jan. 9 at the Uptown Farmers Market, held Saturdays at North Phoenix Baptist Church, Central Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

“The opportunity to buy fresh pasta is very limited in the Phoenix metro area,” says Tony Rea, owner and executive chef of Creations in Cuisine Catering. “I grew up eating fresh pasta almost daily and as a professional chef I have had the desire for years to share its amazing attributes on a larger scale.”

Pasta Rea offers fusilli, rigatoni, campanelle, conchiglie, linguine, and tagliatelle at $7-$9/lb. In addition, a selection of sauces including pesto, Bolognese, and marinara will be for sale, each one complementing specific pasta.

Fresh pasta and sauces as well as an assortment of freshly made Italian specialties will be sold every Saturday at the Uptown Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additionally, they may be ordered in advance for pick-up at the market by calling 602 485-9924 and placing the order by noon the Thursday prior to the Saturday market.
