Kharma Life Center, 700 W. Campbell Ave., now offers naturopathic care as well as Chinese medicine and nutritional counseling.

Dr. Christine Hicks, NMD, who has been working in alternative medicine for 20 years with a focus on mindfulness and stress reduction, joined the center’s staff in October. She specializes in hormone balancing, bioidentical hormone replacement, weight loss, thyroid balancing, adrenal fatigue and recovery, GI tract disorders, digestive problems, allergies, food allergies, food sensitivities, chronic pain, migraines, mood imbalances, sleep disturbance, menstrual disorders, detox and cleansing.

Beginning in January, Hicks will offer a four-month class series, Foundations of Wellness, from 1-2:30 p.m. the second Saturday of the month. Each class is $25 for one, or $45 for two, and includes handouts. Topics include Diet, Exercise and Detox: Healthy Resolutions, Jan. 14; Hormone Replacement for Men and Women, Feb. 11; Thyroid and Adrenal Dysfunction, March 11; and Inflammation, Digestion and Food Sensitivity, April 8.

In addition, Hicks will lead a six-week class in Beginning Meditation, 7-8 p.m. Jan. 9-Feb. 23 and again from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Jan. 23-Feb. 27. Class size is limited to 10 people.
