Jim Kiefelds, owner of Diamond Jim’s Jewelry, a full-service jewelry store in central Phoenix, recently traveled to Antwerp, Belgium to select diamonds for local customers.

Antwerp is the capital of Flanders, Belgium. It is world-renowned for its fine chocolates, world-class craft beers, art, and some of the world’s most skilled diamond cutters. Since the Renaissance, the world has relied on Antwerp for advanced diamond cutting technology and research.

The diamond district, also known as the “Square Mile,” sees over $54 billion in turnover annually. It is the world’s largest and most prolific diamond-making center; more than 84 percent of the world’s supply of diamonds are cut there.

Diamond dealers undergo a rigorous, seven-year certification, education, and referral process before being licensed to purchase in Antwerp’s diamond district.

Kiefelds, as an Antwerp licensed diamond dealer, brings unique stones directly to the Valley of the Sun twice a year. You can check them out in person at the store, 6005 N. 16th St. You also can follow his recent journey on Facebook at DiamondJims4cash.
