Like most states, Arizona continues to face a dearth of health care professionals—there simply are not enough qualified and trained workers to fill the current job demand. The shortage is particularly keen in medical labs. A shortage of everything from phlebotomists to lab techs to microbiologists is impacting many clinical lab organizations, including Sonora Quest Laboratories.

To help fuel this pipeline, Sonora Quest Laboratories has launched the Certification Upgrade Cohort Program (CUCP), where employees provide students with the clinical externship experience required for graduation and employment.

Sonora Quest has partnered with Phoenix College to provide a pathway for students to qualify for practice at the bachelor’s level and become certified laboratory professionals.
