Acclaimed chef, restaurateur, cookbook author and judge on Food Network’s highly-rated “Chopped,” Scott Conant has landed in Phoenix with his latest concept to date: Mora Italian.

Conant and his team, Western Vertical Holdings principals David Sellers and Bob Agahi (developers of nearby project The Colony), have partnered with local Italian restaurateur Stefano Fabbri of Pomo Pizzeria to bring the chef’s signature brand of soulful Italian cooking to the local dining scene.

Conant fell in love with Phoenix after spending time here. He now calls the Valley home. He was captivated by its burgeoning restaurant scene, an ideal setting for his vision of a lively, approachable eatery.

“We’re eager to become a part of the fabric of this great community,” Conant says. “We want Mora to be your next door neighbor; a destination for a relaxed, delicious meal.”

Mora Italian, which opened Feb. 3 in a brand-new building, features street art-inspired works by local artists and an open, airy dining room.

Conant’s cooking style, described as easy-to-love Italian fare with firepower, is evident throughout the menu, which includes blistered Neapolitan-style pizzas. Diners can enjoy unique cocktails, a thorough wine list and a variety of wines by the glass.

“I can’t express enough how welcoming this community has been,” says Conant. “I’m thrilled to be a part of such a thriving restaurant scene here in Phoenix.”

Mora Italian is located at 5651 N. 7th St. and is open for lunch and dinner daily, with weekend brunch to follow. For updates, visit http://MoraItalian.com.
