The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix celebrates the Spring (Vernal) Equinox as instructors and guests call in the four directions using the vibrations of four unique gongs. The tradition of honoring the beginning of spring is one that has been celebrated for thousands of years by indigenous cultures.

The event takes place 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at the garden, 1125 N. 3rd Ave.

Cost is $25 per person, $20 for Garden members. Garden admission is included. Bring a yoga mat, towel, or anything that will allow you to get comfortable sitting or lying down.
