Brian K. Banks, a fourth-degree black belt, has begun teaching Fit-Defense MMA classes at the North Mountain Visitor Center, 12950 N. 7th St.

Come train in martial arts, learn practical self-defense applications, and become warrior fit through Mixed Martial Arts in conjunction with Juk-Ahm (www.jukahm.com). Banks has more than 30 years of training and teaching in martial arts.

Banks will teach effective kicking and striking, defense escapes and tactics, takedowns, and more. In the process, students will gain self-confidence and coordination, as well as tone muscle while relieving stress.

The one-hour classes take place every Saturday and Sunday from 1-2 p.m. A Wednesday evening class is in the works, if there is enough interest. A class option also is available for senior citizens, once a week.

Banks is offering a summer special, for $99 a month, per person. Regular price is $30 per class, or $50 per weekend. Discounts available for seniors, groups, first responders, medical personnel, members of the military and college students.
