Phoenix Rockler Woodworking and Hardware, 4626 E. Thunderbird Road, will hold special, in-store demonstrations on Feb. 9 in an effort to introduce a new audience to woodturning.

The public is encouraged to attend this free event where highly experienced woodturners from the local American Association of Woodturners (AAW) chapter will demonstrate and lead the sessions.

Attendees will learn how handles for kitchen utensils are turned as well as how to assemble the handle with the hardware. They will also be able to sign up for AAW memberships as part of the new partnership program with Rockler and to learn about additional resources they can use should they want to pursue woodturning as a hobby. Participants do not have to have any woodworking experience.

The special “Learn & Turn” demonstrations will be held in two different sessions, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. No RSVP is needed. For more information, call the store at 602-996-3488.
