If you have gained weight during the Coronavirus pandemic, a local doctor says there are many simple things you can do today to start shedding unwanted pounds.

Dr. Suzanne Bentz, board certified in Obesity Medicine and the founder and chief medical officer of Red Mountain Weight Loss, recommends you set realistic goals when planning to lose weight. She suggests you plan ahead, including anticipating whether you might consume extra calories if you are going on vacation. Bentz said people should try their best to keep track of their daily caloric intake and to include daily exercise and/or physical activities they like into their routine. Walking a golf course, playing basketball, hiking with your dog and riding bicycles are some ways to get exercise.

Bentz recommends you avoid desserts and mini-bars. She also advises you to eat small portions and eat slowly.
