The Jewish Family & Children’s Service (JFCS) Center for Senior Enrichment is open again for in-person classes.

This center, which is located at The Palazzo at 6250 N. 19th Ave., returned to the in-person offerings last month after having switched to all online/virtual classes earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it still will provide classes through the video chat system Zoom for those who prefer to take them remotely.

Seniors ages 60 and older can take a live “tour” of the Musical Instrument Museum, with a focus on country music at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10 in the Palazzo cinema room. There will be a special emphasis on Johnny Cash and June Carter. Participants can visit the cinema room to watch the program on a screen or watch it from home. Once they register, they will be sent a link to attend the program, which will last about an hour. To register to watch the virtual program online, visit https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJAodO6grjktHdHwjkbxncRhHOccggAOMrvt.

Seniors ages 60 and older also can watch T.A. Burrows of Act Two Productions sing songs in the “Retro Radio The 50s” performance of tunes from the 1950s at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 10. They can expect to hear “Blue Suede Shoes” by Carl Perkins, “Diana” by Paul Anka, “That’ll Be the Day” by Buddy Holly, “Bye Bye Love” by The Everly Brothers and many other hits from that era. Complimentary ice cream will be served at 2:30 p.m. that day.

Seniors who want to attend these events should RSVP to Janet Rees at 480-599-7198 or janet.rees@jfcsaz.org.
