The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department makes it easy for residents to get out and get fit through its FitPHX WalkPHX program. Enjoy getting outdoors, being physically active, and spending time with family and friends by taking a walk in one of the city’s many parks.

Not a fan of gadgets? No fitness tracker is needed on this journey. The self-led walking paths found at each park location have been mapped with signage that indicates where to start and just how far you’ve gone.

In the North Central area, check out Los Olivos Park (2802 E. Devonshire Ave.); North Mountain Park (10600 N. 7th St.); Steele Indian School Park (300 E. Indian School Rd.); and Washington Park (6655 N. 23rd Ave.).

Those who are looking for a group walk can find an organized WalkPHX event by visiting the program website at www.phoenix.gov/parks/fitphx/walkphx. The next FitPHX Walking Club kicks off Feb. 7 and runs through March 25.
