The Village Eye Works, family owned and operated in the community for more than 24 years, will be accepting non-perishable food items as well as toiletries at this location. Some of the most needed items are peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, canned soups/stews, canned fish, powdered milk, dried or canned beans, juice, oatmeal, cereal, pasta, rice, canned fruits/vegetables, toiletries like soap and toothpaste, and plastic grocery bags. Infant items and gift cards to pharmacies for senior prescriptions also are needed. All items will be donated to the Desert Mission Food Bank. Village Eye Works is offering a $10 discount per donated item (up to $100) and will give a matching discount for monetary donations (up to $100) on a complete pair of glasses.

The Phoenix Children’s Chorus announces its final audition for its 2009-10 Season. Children and youth from second grade to high school are invited to audition to be part of the 25th Anniversary season. Children do not need a musical background. The chorus is looking for children with pleasant, clear singing voices, who love to sing and can match pitch. The PCC is a choral music education program and will teach the children to sing chorally.
