What’s more fun that a monthly “Rock & Box” Emergency Food Box packing party at St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance? How about twice a month?

    After more than 700 volunteers packed more than half a million pounds of food into nearly 35,000 “EFB’s” last summer, Streets of New York Pizza and Pasta, rock music, sports mascots and other local celebrities will be back this summer as Rock & Box expands to twice a month for 2010 due to overwhelming demand.

    Volunteers will enjoy live music and food from Streets of New York as they pack up thousands of boxes at the Del E. Webb Distribution Center, 2831 N. 31st Ave.

    The Rock N’ Box events will continue every other Tuesday night during the summer in July (13 and 27), August (17 and 31) and September (14 and 28). The number of volunteers for each event, which runs from 5 to 9 p.m., is limited to the first 150 people.
