Free workshops on cargiving, elder care

Duet is offering a free, three-part workshop that will focus on three pillars of caregiving: emotional care, physical care and community resources. Brett Petersen, Duet’s director of caregiver services, said the workshop is being offered because there is a need for hands-on education for caregivers since resources are mainly offered online.

Each class will focus on one topic for 90 minutes in a hands-on and interactive way. For example, when presenting information on physical care, a physical therapist will be available to offer resources. Also, a mobile home that showcases adaptive, caregiving equipment such as a shower chair, will be on the premises for viewing.

Each class will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Church of the Beatitudes, Youth Center, 555 W. Glendale Ave., on the following dates: Feb. 29, Emotional Care; March 14, Community Resources; and March 28, Physical Care. To sign up for this free workshop, call 602-274-5022 or email Petersen@duetaz.org. To learn more about Duet and its free services for seniors, visit www.duetaz.org.
