Volunteer honored at special dinner
The Parent-Teacher Association of Aleph Bet Preschool will honor Mercedes Roussel, a parent and active member of the community and PTA, on Sunday, March 9. The gala evening, themed “Reach for the Stars,” will feature a silent auction, video presentation, awards and a live auction of the students artwork. As Roussel is a native of Morocco, the menu prepared by Exotic Kitchen Catering will have a Moroccan theme and include delicious hors devours and a fantastic dessert.
Roussel, a real estate agent who lives in Phoenix with her husband, Serge, and three children—Jonathan, Jessica and Eli—has given her heart and soul to the preschool for more than three years. She has served as dinner committee chairperson, manned the moon bounce on Chanukah and catered the teacher appreciation breakfast, to name just a few of her contributions. Although her youngest son, Eli is graduating from Aleph Bet this year, a strong bond has been forged and Roussel will continue to be actively involved with the preschool.
Aleph Bet Preschool is state certified and serves more than 40 students. Funds raised at the dinner will assist the PTA to ensure each student can participate in the full range of educational activities that they deserve. The event will be held at Chabad of Arizona, 2110 E. Lincoln Drive. Cost to attend is $75 per person. For more information, call 602-944-2580.
