Monroe 602-253-6701 “9 Parts of Desire” is a remarkable look at the women whose extraordinary lives have been frayed and fractured by the last 20 years of turbulent history in Iraq. Chado Ralph Rucci Exhibit March 21-Aug. 17 Phoenix Art Museum 1625 N. Central Ave. 602-57-1222 Pioneering American designer Ralph Rucci will bring his Chado Ralph Rucci collection to Phoenix Art Museum straight from the runways of Paris, and will be on display in the United States for the first and only time. This exclusive fashion event will commence with a special runway show to kick off the five-month exhibition, on display in the Museum’s Kelly Ellman Fashion Design Gallery. Admission to the exhibitions is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students with a valid school ID, $4 for children ages 6-17 and free for children under 6 and for Museum members. March 15-30 Center for the Performing Arts PVCC campus 18401 N. 32nd St. 602-264-0402 A drama about the 1938-39 historical event when the British government, with encouragement from both the local Jewish and Quaker populations, agreed to allow 10,000 mostly Jewish children to be transported out of Germany, Austria, and other countries to find safe haven in England. Some never returned home. The play follows one of the “kinder.” Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 8 and Sundays at 2 and 7 p.m. (final Sunday has a matinee only). Ticket prices are $30-$40, with discounts available for seniors. There will be a school matinee on Thursday, March 27. Student study guides are available from AJTC. Monroe 602-252-8497 Harper Lee’s moving tale of life in rural Alabama during the Depression is filled with heartache and joy, conflict and conciliation. In “To Kill A Mockingbird,” Scout, a 6-year-old tomboy, grows up quickly as her father, Atticus Finch, defends a legal battle that reveals fires of prejudice burning through the South where black and white, rich and poor, young and old struggle to find common ground and survive. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Herberger Theater Center Box Office or online at www.herbergertheater.org. ‘Moon Over Buffalo’ April 9-20 Center for the Performing Arts PVCC campus 34th Street and Union Hills Drive 602-787-7738 “Moon Over Buffalo” is a backstage farce about George and Charlotte Hay, an acting couple on tour in Buffalo in 1953 with a repertory consisting of “Cyrano de Bergerac” and Noel Coward’s “Private Lives.” Fate has given them one more shot at starring roles in “The Scarlet Pimpernel” epic and director Frank Capra himself is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance. Tickets are $12 adults, $8 students/staff/seniors. Matinee and evening performances will be held. Box Office hours are Tuesday through Friday, 12-5 p.m., and one hour prior to curtain. |
