Teacher Prep High School at Phoenix College, a Performing Plus School, is currently enrolling students for the 2008-09 academic year, which will begin on Monday, Aug. 4. Applications may be picked up in the school office located at the Phoenix College Osborn Center, Room OSE 105, 3310 N. 10th Ave. Chartered by the Maricopa County Community College District and directly supported by Phoenix College and South Mountain Community College, the goal of Teacher Prep High School is to prepare high school students for entry into college-level teacher education programs. Teacher Prep prepares students interested in becoming teachers to become strong educational leaders and provides adequate college resources to students before graduating from high school. While students enrolled in Teacher Prep High School work toward earning their high school diploma, they can earn transferable college credits at any of the Maricopa community colleges. By their high school graduation, students can earn or can be close to completing a community college degree or certificate in education. Phoenix College encourages Teacher Prep students to participate in all community college extra-curricular activities and organizations. In addition, students are able to use the college’s resources and facilities, including libraries, computer labs, college fairs and financial aid presentations. There are no tuition fees charged to students attending Teacher Prep High School. This includes community college courses taken while enrolled at the high school.
