| Local baker wins cupcake contest |

Simply Sweets owner and sugar artist, Dana Brown, recently was one of the grand prize winners in the Martha Stewart Cutest Cupcake Contest. The winning cupcake design is a bed of green grass made of buttercream icing topped with a white chocolate golf ball. Martha Stewart announced the 10 grand-prize winners on her show, The Martha Stewart Show, during the show’s cupcake week.
“My customers think the design is really fun and is great for many different occasions including a golf fanatics' birthday, groom’s cupcake tower or a golf tournament,” says Brown. To celebrate the exciting occasion, Simply Sweets, located in Sunnyslope, held a “name the cupcake” contest on the business’ blog, simplysweetsaz.blogspot.com, to give away one dozen of the winning design to five winners. “Cupcakes are becoming so popular and are not just for children's birthdays anymore,” Brown points out. Simply Sweets also rents cupcakes stands for displays ranging from 18 cupcakes to 200 or more.
