Seniors meet for games, fun The newly formed LifeBridge Senior Connections will meet again on Thursday June 19th at 10 a.m. for board games and socializing at Orangewood Nazarene Church, 7510 N 27th Ave. The Community Volunteer Center invites any interested adults to come and join the group for friendship and fun. There are several activities planned through the year. Watch for more announcements. Following the activities, seniors are encouraged to meet for lunch on their own at Village Inn (Northern and I-17) at noon. Special trip to see ‘Oliver’ The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department offers a special day trip for seniors this month, leaving from the parking lot of the Devonshire Senior Center, 2802 E. Devonshire Ave. On Thursday, June 26, a bus will transport you to the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater in Mesa for a lunchtime performance of “Oliver” (Program #48778). Trip fee is $43 and includes transportation, lunch and show ticket. Only a few spots remain, so reserve your seat now. The bus leaves at 10:30 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m. Register on-line using course number at www.phoenix.gov/PARKS choose Classes and Programs. For more information, call 602-256-3130.
Shadow Mountain is one of the newest city of Phoenix Senior Centers, located at 3546 E Sweetwater Ave. The center provides people, 60 years or older or adults with disabilities, with nutrition programs, group meals, educational opportunities, recreation and social activities, information, referral, advocacy, transportation and counseling/casework services. Upcoming programs include: • Father’s Day Party, 10 a.m. June 13—Gather around and celebrate Dads everywhere as Hedy & Her Peppers plus Jay Farris entertain. Event will include lunch and raffles.
