| SVA pays tribute to local businesses |

The Sunnyslope Village Alliance (SVA) Annual Awards Dinner and Reception will take place the evening of Thursday, Sept. 18. Joyce Porter will be recognized as Volunteer of the Year, and the Kiwanis Club of Sunnyslope will be given the Cornerstone Leadership Award, which is awarded to an organization that has made a significant contribution to the betterment of the Sunnyslope community. Other nominees for recognition as business of the year include: North Central News; American Valet Co.; Atlasta Catering Co.; Bomberos Café; Cave Creek Lock-it Lockers; El Rancho Market; Food City Marketplace; Grinders Coffee Co.; Preach Building Supply; W.J. Maloney Plumbing Co., and Wireless Toyz. Mayor Phil Gordon will be the honored guest along with many other city, county and state officials. The awards dinner will begin at 6 p.m. at the Mountain Preserve Reception Center, 1431 East Dunlap Ave. Cost is $50 per person.
