Phoenix seeks to honor citizens

The Phoenix Human Relations Commission, in collaboration with the city of Phoenix Equal Opportunity Department, is seeking nominations for Phoenix residents, including youth, who have contributed significantly to creating a compassionate and socially just community. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3 The Calvin C. Goode Lifetime Achievement and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Living the Dream awards will be presented in January at the annual Arizona Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast at the Phoenix Convention Center. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has made Phoenix a better place to live by promoting social and economic justice and civil rights.  Candidates for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Living the Dream Award must embody the ideas of Dr. King through their personal commitment to human relations and social justice.
