PetSmart holds adoption event

It’s been said that every dog has his day. This month, thousands of homeless dogs and cats will have their own entire weekend to find loving new families at all 1,043 PetSmart stores in  the United States and Canada.

PetSmart Charities’ annual Fall Adoption Weekend—which teams up animal-welfare groups throughout North America in PetSmart stores in their state or province—takes place Sept. 12-14. More than 2,000 animal-welfare organizations in North America are expected to participate, with the goal of placing 15,000 homeless pets with new families.

Prospective adopters are encouraged to visit the PetSmart Charities’ Adoption Center inside any PetSmart store from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Adoptions are handled by participating animal-welfare groups.  Call a PetSmart store near you to find out a specific agency’s set-up time during the three-day event.

Every dog and cat adopter will receive a free “Welcome to Pet Parenthood” guide.  It includes information about caring for a new pet, as well as valuable savings offers on needed supplies and services. Dog savings offers are valued at up to $180 and cat savings offers are valued at up to $120.

To find the PetSmart Charities’ Adoption Center nearest you, visit www.PetSmart.com or call 877-473-8762.
