Shadow Mountain Senior Center provides people, 60 years or older or adults with disabilities, with nutrition programs, group meals, educational opportunities, recreation and social activities, information, referral, advocacy, transportation and counseling/casework services. Upcoming programs include: • Fall Prevention Training Class: “Matter of Balance” is a must take and the first step needed to reduce an older adult’s risk of serious injury from a fall! The free class begins 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 and continues each Thursday for eight weeks. Sessions discuss how to manage the fear of falling, exercise and fall prevention, recognizing fall hazards in the home and identifying risk behaviors. Pre-registration is required. • Benefits Check Up, 9-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22. Join the Area Agency on Aging as their counselors conduct one on one meetings with seniors to discuss possible benefits they may be missing out on. The class is free, but space is limited. Call to pre-register. The Shadow Mountain Senior Center is located at 3546 E. Sweetwater Ave. For meals, lunch reservations are required one week in advance. For more information, call 602-534-2303.
