Free heartburn screening Nov. 1
A seminar and free screening for heartburn will be offered by specialists from the John C. Lincoln Heartburn Center between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, on the campus of John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital at the Cowden Center, 9202 N. 2nd St.

Seminar information about heartburn’s risks and progression will be presented by gastroenterologist Joseph Fares, MD, who specializes in diagnosis and medical treatment of gastrointestinal, or GI, problems, and by Heartburn Clinic Medical Director Francisco Rodriguez, MD, FACS, a board-certified general surgeon who is extensively trained in minimally invasive surgery to correct GI problems that cannot be resolved with medication. The two will explain heartburn, swallowing disorders and the importance of receiving early treatment to prevent potentially serious consequences.

Nurses from the John C. Lincoln Heartburn Center will screen patients for diagnostic treatments. Although the seminar is free, space is limited and reservations are required. Call the Cowden Center before Oct. 24 at 602-870-6300.
