Local dentist donates to kids
Mark Espinoza, DDS, of Central Dental Care, 9315 N. Central Ave., takes being a good neighbor very seriously. "We have a responsibility to share whatever talents and resources we have with our neighbors," he said. "My particular expertise is dentistry, but we all have something to share."

Dr. Espinoza recently donated dozens of toothbrushes to the Desert Mission Children's Dental Clinic. He ordered the toothbrushes when he heard that some of the children in the Dental Clinic share one toothbrush with their entire family.

"Good dental habits need to start early, and they can make a huge difference in the health and self-esteem of children and adults," he pointed out.

Last year, 52 dentists and five hygienists volunteered at the clinic, seeing 1,058 children in 2,615 visits. More than 5,000 children benefited from oral hygiene education in seven schools. The dental clinic exists to serve those children, ages 4-18, who have no dental insurance and do not qualify for state programs.
