Block party promotes Indian School Road
The first “Partners in Prosperity–The New Indian School Corridor” block party takes place 12-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16. The block party will run along the Indian School Corridor inside of 32nd Street all the way to 38th Street.
The goals of the block party to promote the existing businesses and to re-introduce them not only to the adjacent neighborhoods, but to the city at large.
“We are only one mile south of Camelback Road and yet we are the forgotten corridor,” says Ann Malone of RequireThePrior.org, one of the organizers of the event. “It is the goal of our organization to change that.”

The festive street fair atmosphere of the block party will include several beer gardens; two separate entertainment stages featuring local musicians and a third offering varied and creative educational presentations; an antique fair; classic cars, police and fire equipment, exhibits, and special squads; and the many unique shops and vendors.

“The success of our corridor rests upon the genuine partnership between our businesses, our neighborhoods, our police, firemen, parks, neighborhood services, courts, and civic leaders – each working with and watching out for the other, for the good of all,” Malone says. “The thousands of shoppers we are expecting will have the opportunity to interact with our businesses, neighbors, and city partners, re-discovering the unique personality of the Indian School Corridor.”

Charity partners include St. Vincent de Paul, the Phoenix Police Union Charities, Kids Street Park, and the Marc Atkinson Recreation Center for at-risk youth located just north of the Indian School Corridor at 23rd Avenue.
