The Kids In Need Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free school supplies to economically disadvantaged school children and under-funded teachers, has launched a teacher grants program sponsored by BIC USA Inc.

From now until Sept. 30, teachers from Phoenix-area schools qualified to shop at Treasures 4 Teachers can visit the Kids In Need Foundation website (www.kinf.org) to apply for a BIC Handwriting Project grant, sponsored by BIC USA Inc. through its BIC HONORS community care and charitable giving program. The grants, which are each worth $250, will be given to certified preK-12 teachers who wish to conduct classroom projects that will enhance the writing skills of their students.

Applicants will be asked to include activities in their projects that call for students to handwrite paragraphs or essays. The Kids In Need Foundation will award the grants based on the creativity of the projects, the clarity of the objectives, the methods of evaluation and the efficiency of the budgets. Visit www.kinf.org for more information.
