Staff members, clients and caregivers from SunTree Adult Day & School for Seniors recently celebrated raising $2,000 for the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. A group from SunTree was on hand during the check presentation at the Alzheimer’s association’s annual Wine to Remember reception, held May 21 at the Moon Valley Country Club.

The funds were raised through the sale of Remember Me Honey Bags, which were assembled by clients in SunTree’s adult day program and sold at the center, 4120 N. 20th St.

The bags include honey in a jar and honey soap from family-owned eBeeHoney.com in Ashland, Ohio, as well as a wooden honey dipper. The Remember Me Honey campaign was first launched at the center in 2013, and was re-introduced in late 2016.

Adult day clients at SunTree help tie purple ribbons onto the jars of honey, hole punch gift cards, and help keep track of orders. Purple is the official color of the Alzheimer’s awareness movement. In addition, a handful of volunteers from the community who read about the project in the North Central News also helped assemble the bags last winter.

SunTree is open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. For more information about the campaign, visit www.remembermehoney.com. To pre-order a gift bag or for questions, call Van Nguyen, SunTree program director, at 602-441-4900.
