From scholarship announcements to a Mother’s Day brunch, many activities and neighborhood events are taking place at the Arizona American Italian Club (AAIC), 7509 N. 12th St.

On April 25, seven high school students received a $1,000 scholarship toward post-high school education/ career preparation. These students were chosen by a club scholarship committee on the merits of their high school studies, school activities, community volunteer work, part-time work employment in areas of interest and recommendations from current teachers and mentors. The club will continue to offer these scholarships on a yearly basis with application information to be sent to all area high schools for distribution to all students.

Events on the horizon include the AAIC Blood Drive, Saturday, May 3, facilitated by the American Red Cross from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 1-800-733-2767 to make an appointment. In addition, mothers will receive special recognition on Sunday, May 11, at a Mother’s Day Brunch offered all day until 3 p.m.; reservations are recommended. The meal will be prepared by Galindo’s Catering.

Other May offerings include Booze’n Brushes Paint Party, held Wednesday, May 21, at 6 p.m.; happy hour on Mondays and Tuesdays, starting at 3 p.m.; Bingo on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6:30 p.m.; and bocce ball and horseshoes and a new outdoor patio for dining or relaxing to music, offered on Wednesday and Friday evenings.
