Specifically geared towards those living alone and experiencing memory changes, EPIC Living Alone is a new virtually-delivered program that offers support and future care planning for older adults who live alone in the community. Developed at Arizona State University, this free program focused on early-stage memory loss is currently seeking additional participants for its research study.

EPIC Living Alone provides a series of online workshops designed to help participants better understand memory changes and their impact on daily life. Sessions cover practical topics such as managing stress, handling everyday challenges, improving communication with family and friends, planning for the future and staying socially connected.

All sessions are held via Zoom, making participation accessible nationwide. The program includes six 2.5-hour group workshops, one 90-minute individual session, a refresher session and three brief interviews to gather participant feedback. In addition to gaining valuable tools and support, participants may receive up to $90 in gift cards.

Participants must be 60 years of age or older, reside by themselves within the United States, and be experiencing memory loss (for example, have an MCI or early-stage dementia diagnosis). The program is only available in English at this time.

EPIC Living Alone workshops and other activities are designed to provide helpful strategies and create a sense of connection among participants facing similar challenges. Contact the program team to learn more at agingsuccessfully@asu.edu or 602-496-1239.
